Overview
The Dunedin Rotary Triathlon is an annual sprint distance race held at Honeymoon Island State Park. It is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and managed by DRC Sports. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Purpose: A fundraiser to provide local community grants and college scholarships.

Planning: The Sponsorship Fundraising committee begins meeting in February.

Timing: This 3-day event takes place annually over the weekend following Mother's Day. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Competitor Guide
Athletes must complete three consecutive events, ending in a remote parking lot. Post-race food, beverages, and awards are provided. [1, 2]

0.25-Mile Swim: Competitors begin the race with an open-water beach swim.

12-Mile Bike: Racers transition to a cycling route over the Dunedin Causeway.

5K Run: The final leg is a 3.1-mile run through the park's scenic trails.

Perks: Post-race food and beverages are available to athletes; finisher medals and category awards are presented at the conclusion of the event. [1, 2, 3]
Volunteer Schedule (Rotary Members)
All Rotary members are required to volunteer for this 3-day schedule.
Day 1 – Friday (Pre-Race Setup & Registration)

Equipment: Volunteers pick up event gear and deliver it to Honeymoon Island State Park.

Packet Pick-Up: Registration is held in the late afternoon at Trek Bicycle (22678 Bayshore Blvd., Dunedin). [1, 2]
Day 2 – Saturday (Course Setup & Pre-Registration)

Course Prep: Members set up race courses and the main Transition area in the afternoon.

Catering: Volunteers gather pre-ordered catering food for Sunday's delivery.

Packet Pick-Up: Registration begins in the late morning at Lucky Lobster (941 Huntley Avenue, Dunedin). [1]
Day 3 – Sunday (Race Day)

5:30 a.m.: Gate keepers, registration staff, body markers, and car parking staff arrive at Honeymoon Island.

6:00 a.m.: Race-course volunteers arrive to staff water stations, transition zones, the bike route, beach patrol, parking, food stations, and beer tents. Food is delivered to the park.

Post-Race: Breakdown begins after final medals are awarded and competitors depart. [1]

Wrap-up: All rental and event equipment is packed and returned.
