Tampa Bay Water

The Rotary club of Dunedin was recently joined by Paul Stanek, chief operating officer of Tampa Bay Water. Tampa Bay Water, which is a non-profit, special district of the State of Florida created to plan, develop and deliver a high-quality drinking water supply, and protect our water supply sources. Tampa Bay Water manages ground water, surface water and desalination sources to ensure that water is distributed throughout its service area.

Tampa Bay Water was created by interlocal agreement among its member governments. Its policies are established by a nine-member board of directors, with two elected commissioners from each member county and one elected representative from each member city. The creation of Tampa Bay Water ended the region’s ‘water wars’ and created a new alliance between the six governments in west-central Florida: Hillsborough County, Pasco County, Pinellas County, New Port Richey, St. Petersburg and Tampa.
