The 5th Annual Pole Peace Event in Dunedin brought community members together in a shared celebration of peace, unity, and goodwill in honor of Rotary’s 121st birthday. Hosted by three local Dunedin Rotary Clubs, which are the Rotary Club of Dunedin, Rotary Club of Dunedin North, and Rotary Club of Dunedin Waterside. The evening reflected Rotary’s ongoing commitment to fostering understanding and service within the community.
The program opened with an invocation by Mary Beth Carroll, offered in memory of Dr. John Still, followed by a proclamation from Mayor Maureen Moe Freaney declaring February 23rd as Peace Day in Dunedin.

Student performances from Academy Da Vinci added a meaningful, creative dimension, highlighting youth engagement with the message of peace.

Hollis Workowski, Dunedin High School Class of 2025, performed John Lemmon’s “Imagine.”
Attendees also recognized the contributions of event committee members, Rotarians, and community partners. Children’s activities led by Angel Trueblood and Shannon Patsy created an inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere, while networking opportunities allowed guests to learn more about participating organizations and local peace-building efforts. Refreshments were generously provided by Lucky Lobster and Publix.
Concluding at 7:30 PM, the event encouraged participants to continue exploring ways to support peace and goodwill throughout the Dunedin community, reinforcing the enduring impact of collective action and civic engagement.
