We help people in the Dunedin community.
The Rotary Club of Dunedin was moved by the number of Ukrainian refugees moving to our area. We decided to provide resources like groceries and more importantly to build important relationships. These relationships led to jobs, housing and childcare opportunities.
We are now seeing other clubs in our District joining this meaningful initiative. A task force was created within District 6950. Rotarians have been able to mobilize several charitable organizations who specialize in refugee aid to help sponsor and connect refugees with people and organizations that can help them with everything from learning English to starting a new business.
The Rotary Club of Dunedin donated $3,000 from our Rotary Club’s Foundation in addition to many hours listening and supporting our new neighbors and friends.
Below, is an example of a heartfelt thank you message from Ukraine refugees to our peacebuilding Rotarians:
A Thank you!
Hi!
I want to thank each and every one of you, Rotarians for your kindness. On behalf of every Ukrainian who came to the US due to this horrible war situation in our country, I want to tell you that thanks to all of you we truly feel at home.
We appreciate your support and friendship!
