It's World Book Day and We're Celebrating!

Literacy is one of Rotary International's key initiatives. One of its hallmark projects is the Guatemala Literacy Project (GLP). This project is one of the largest grassroots, multi-club, multi-district projects in Rotary. More than 800 clubs (including the Rotary Club of Dunedin!) and 90 districts have been working together since 1997 to improve education for underserved students in Guatemala. GLP educates teachers, provides textbooks and computers, and offers social support and scholarships to Guatemalan youths.

In addition to participating in this grant project, the Rotary Club of Dunedin donates a book to a local library weekly (that's 50 books a year for more years than we can count). We also support local literacy initiatives, including curating books for Free Little Libraries around Dunedin.
