Workforce development and education paths for all have long been a topic in Florida and the country. Providing opportunities for people to learn skills that they can use to earn a living brings people more choices and more freedom. AmSkills is a non-profit organization that serves people in the Tampa Bay area by providing a route to employment through training and apprenticeship. AmSkills programs benefit young people leaving high school, veterans, and individuals in need of quickly learning skills to meet the demands of an ever-changing employment landscape. Tom Mudano joined us to share the status of manufacturing job openings and the employment pipeline. The bottom line is that there is a shortage in viable job candidates and many open jobs, which presents opportunities those in need of work as well as local manufacturers. AmSkills partners with local manufacturers to understand the skills that are needed and design training, pre-apprenticeship, and apprenticeship programs to bridge the gap.
